Yikes, It was actually cold this morning, definitely jacket time. What happened to the heat of yesterday? I guess it got blown away by all the wind. With the Model A's loaded and breakfast done, we were ready to pick up where we left off yesterday by heading to the US border. A quick check of the map and the GPS and our route was set. Once we got out of the city, it was a very pleasant drive, AND the wind was a not a factor anymore. The road was arrow straight with farms for miles upon miles.
We made it to the Blue Water Bridge and as we crossed we commented on how beautiful the water looked with its blue color. Another thing in our favor was there was no back up at the Port Huron customs. We did have one little incident as it seems the agent was getting misinformation on the plate for the Model A. Turns out when he asked for the registration he realized the antique plates use AN as a prefix, then the number. That tidbit of information solved the misunderstanding.
Leaving the bridge, we followed the shore road along Lake Huron and the view of the lake, when houses didn't block it, looked great. Along the way, we stopped at a local flea market and roamed the tables for any kind of treasure. Mike found a spark plug to add to his collection.
Back on the road, it wasn't long before we arrived Frankenmuth, which is a quaint town with a German flair. After getting settled into the hotel, Mike and I zipped over to the local Military Museum as it was only open for another hour. Unfortunately it was closed when we got there, so we made the best of the time by visiting the local brewery and sampling their stock.
Dinner was at the Bavarian Inn, which was decked out in full Bavarian style, including the wait staff in their authentic costumes. Our Schnitzel was great as well as all the other sides they brought.. Following dinner we headed over to Bronner's Christmas Wonderland. You have to see this place to believe it. It is huge, inside and out. Mike and I saw Nan and Grace buzzing around, looking at the endless variety of ornaments, heaven knows what they bought.
Danica wants to go to "Santa's Village". Both kids say a big hello and send hugs and kisses to Nana and Grampy!!! XOXO
